Although the rise in exchange rates lagged behind increases in raw materials, labor, and other input costs keeping exporters away from their double-digit growth target exporters from the Aegean Region managed to maintain their performance in August 2025 compared to August 2024.
In the January–August 2025 period, the Aegean Region increased its exports by 1%, from $28.917 billion to $29.240 billion.
Izmir, the region's driving force with 55 percent of exports
Izmir increased its exports by 3.6 percent in August, from $1 billion 897 million to $1 billion 965 million. Thus, it alone accounted for 55 percent of the Aegean Region's exports.
Izmir's exports reached $16 billion 134 million in the January-August period of 2025. However, this figure represents a 1 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.
Afyonkarahisar becomes the star of the Aegean region in export growth
Afyonkarahisar, a leading exporter of marble, saw a 14.3 percent increase in August, from $45.2 million to $51.6 million.
Afyonkarahisar's eight-month exports also jumped 27 percent, from $489 million to $620 million. Afyonkarahisar set the record for export growth in the Aegean Region on both a monthly and eight-month basis.
Manisa reaches $5 Billion mark
Manisa's exports fell by 4 percent in August, from $659 million to $632 million. However, Manisa's exports remained stable for the January-August period of 2025, reaching $4.862 billion.
Denizli shows 6% increase
Denizli repeated its August 2024 performance, achieving $377 million in exports. Over the eight-month period, Denizli increased its exports by 6%, from $2.784 billion to $2.955 billion.
Balıkesir exported $197 million
Balıkesir, which finished 2024 with an export performance of $2.457 billion, saw its exports increase by 5% in August, from $187 million to $197 million.
Balıkesir also projected a 4% increase in exports in the first eight months of 2025, from $1.576 billion to $1.640 billion.
Aydın's exports increase by 10%
Aydın displayed a positive outlook in August, increasing its exports by 10.3%, from $142 million to $156 million. Aydın recorded an 8 percent increase in exports to $1.224 billion in the eight-month period.
Decline in Muğla, stable in Kütahya and Uşak
Muğla, the center of the aquaculture sector, saw its exports fall 7 percent in August, from $118 million to $110 million. Muğla's exports in the eight-month period increased 8 percent, from $830 million to $895 million.
Kütahya saw a 4 percent loss in exports in August, reaching $76.9 million. Over the next eight months, they increased by 3.5 percent to $633 million.
Uşak, a recycling center, saw its exports increase 3 percent in August, reaching $38.2 million. With $275 million in exports over the eight-month period, it fell short of the previous year.
