Tata Steel begins a new program to reduce carbon emissions

Tata Steel has announced that it has begun implementing blast furnace improvement programs at its Port Talbot plant in England, which is expected to reduce its carbon footprint by around 160,000 tonnes of CO2 per year (equivalent to the annual emissions of around 100,000 cars).

The two blast furnaces at the Port Talbot plant can produce 3.6 million tons of liquid rebar each year. Tata Steel UK has an annual crude steel capacity of 5 million tons and aims to produce net zero steel by 2050.
