According to the plan released by the Tangshan municipal government, the city of Tangshan, the main steel production base in North China's Hebei province, will become the country's largest scrap recycling base.
The implementation plan states that between 2016 and 2020, Tangshan built facilities capable of recycling more than 32 million tons of waste and old materials per year, among which ferrous scrap capacity is over 30 million tons per year. During this period, the rate of steel produced by steelmakers in the city using scrap reached 22.88%.
According to the plan, Tangshan's annual scrap consumption will reach 40 million tons by 2025, making it the country's largest steel scrap recycling base.
It is said that the number of waste collection facilities in Tangshan will increase to 366 by 2025, and the number of waste recycling companies will increase from 42 to 55.
