Taiwanese automotive supplier is establishing a facility at the former Gadsden steel mill in the US

In the company’s statement, it was announced that the investment amounts to $430 million and that the facility will be transformed into Minth’s largest campus to date.

The new facility will produce high-quality plastic and aluminum parts for Hyundai’s Montgomery plant and Kia’s West Point, Georgia plant. Minth operates 78 factories worldwide, and the Gadsden facility will play a critical role in serving North American customers transitioning to electric and advanced vehicles.

Alabama Secretary of Commerce Ellen McNair highlighted the state’s leadership in automotive innovation and described Minth’s investment as a significant achievement for Alabama’s industry. Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford stated that the facility will bring high-wage jobs to Gadsden and revitalize the former steel mill site.

Minth plans to renovate and expand the former 400-acre facility. The new jobs are expected to have an average annual salary exceeding $49,000, with hundreds of positions created initially; as operations grow, the total is projected to reach 1,325.

Minth Chief Strategy Officer William Chin noted that the former steel mill will be revived through plastic and aluminum production, stating: “This site will now serve the evolving needs of the automotive industry and create lasting value for the community.”

David Hooks, CEO of the Gadsden-Etowah County Industrial Development Authority, stated that the investment will transform the regional economies.
