According to the most recent carbon fee schedule released by Taiwan's Climate Change Administration (CCA), which is part of the Ministry of the Environment, the CCA decided to establish the carbon fee rate in early 2024, carry out a carbon footprint verification in 2024, and levy a carbon fee based on the inspection results in 2025. In Taiwan, it is anticipated that more than 500 regulated businesses will make their first carbon fee payment in 2025.
The CCA emphasized that the timeline for 2026 is anticipated to be in line with the European Union's (EU) Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and businesses that have already paid Taiwan's carbon fee will be able to subtract the EU's carbon tariff.
