Speira announced that it will close its Rheinwerk aluminum smelter

German aluminum producer Speira has announced that it will close its Rheinwerk aluminum smelter in the second half of 2023 due to high energy costs. Speira had halved production at its smelter in October last year due to energy costs. In the statement made by the company, it was stated that the closed Rheinwerk aluminum smelting plant will be transformed into an aluminum rolling and recycling company, while at the same time it was informed that 30 million euros will be invested to increase the recycling capacity of the plant.
