According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), imports of hot-rolled coil (HRC) increased in June 2024. HRC imports in June reached 28,397 tons, a 26.7% increase compared to the same period last year. However, imports in June 2024 decreasing by 33.2% compared to May 2024.
In the first half of the year (January-June 2024), HRC imports experienced a significant increase. Imports during this period increased by 32.8% compared to the same period last year. HRC imports in the first half of 2024 reached 189,283 tons, a substantial increase compared to the January-June period of the previous year.
