South Africa to invest $7.2 billion in renewable energy

South Africa plans to invest $7.2 billion in renewable energy by 2030. According to the news of News 24, the state-owned enterprise Eskom, which meets almost all of the country's electricity needs on its own, will spend approximately 4.2 billion dollars (61.7 billion rand) on wind energy projects and approximately 3 billion dollars on solar energy projects in the next 9 years. It is reported that he plans to invest $ 44.3 billion rand.

In the news, it was noted that the company, which produces most of its electricity from coal-fired thermal power plants, will implement renewable energy projects in the thermal power plant areas, some of which will be closed.

Eskom, which already has 27.2 billion dollars (400 billion rand) debt, is expected to realize these projects through partnerships.

When the projects are implemented, an annual increase of 6,000 megawatts is expected in the country's renewable energy production capacity.
