The contract further strengthens the long-standing partnership between the two companies and supports Baosteel's strategy to expand its production capacity while enhancing product quality.
The scope of supply covers all key mechanical equipment, automation systems, and process technologies required for the two production lines.
Two PQF® Seamless Tube Lines to Be Installed
The PQF159 line will comprise a CTP1000VD cone-type piercing mill, a 7-inch PQF® BCO retained mandrel mill, and a 350A28 Stretch Reducing Mill (SRM).
The PQF258 line will feature a CTP1150VD cone-type piercing mill, a 10-inch PQF® BCO retained mandrel mill, and a 500A20 Stretch Reducing Mill (SRM).
In addition, SMS group will supply two PQF® roll regrinding machines for the PQF® mills and two KR groove grinding machines for the SRM stands.
Advanced Automation and Process Technology
Alongside the mechanical equipment, SMS group will provide a comprehensive Level 1 automation system, the Technological Measurement System (TMS), and the CARTAneo® process technology software.
The automation package enables comprehensive metrology data analysis across the PQF® lines while incorporating the latest technologies for Crop End Control (CEC) and Wall Thickness Control Automation (WTCA and WTCL), ensuring enhanced dimensional accuracy and process stability.
Delivering High Productivity and Manufacturing Precision
According to SMS group, the PQF® technology maximizes plant productivity, optimizes operating costs, and minimizes unplanned downtime. Compared with conventional seamless tube rolling processes, the PQF® system delivers superior dimensional accuracy, operational performance, and process reliability. The new production lines are expected to make a significant contribution to Baosteel's production efficiency and quality objectives.
