The company implemented a price increase of KRW 100,000/ton (approximately USD 74/ton) for 300 series wire rods and left its 200 and 400 series offers unchanged.
However, SeAH CSS had to keep bar prices constant due to increasing competition from foreign suppliers. Despite high production costs, round bar prices remained at the same level compared to the previous month.
This price increase of SeAH CSS occurs in parallel with the significant fluctuations in nickel prices in recent months. Nickel is an important raw material used in the production of stainless steel, and prices have risen significantly recently due to increased demand and supply disruptions due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
The increase in nickel prices creates a challenging situation for stainless steel producers such as SeAH CSS. While companies are forced to increase prices to cover production costs, they also have to compete with foreign suppliers. This situation may cause stainless steel prices to increase in the coming period.
