American scrap collectors, which divert orders from customers to Asian suppliers, continue to increase their prices in the Southeast Asian market.
At the beginning of the week of March 20, offers for Japanese scrap (H2) lots had increased by USD 460/mt for the Vietnamese market.
Scrap (HMS 1&2 and container shipments) prices in Taiwan have increased by USD 15-20/mt since mid-March, reaching USD 425-430/mt. Taiwanese buyers are not willing to buy April lots over 420 USD/mt at the moment.
