Russia oil company Rosneft wants to ship natural gas via Nord Stream 2

Russia Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak announced that Rosneft, the country's largest oil company, has applied for natural gas shipments through the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which is expected to be completed soon, and that the issue is being evaluated.

In a statement to journalists in the capital Moscow, Novak made statements about Rosneft, which has recently increased its investments in natural gas production as well as oil production.


Explaining that the company has taken initiatives to realize that the company wants to deliver natural gas via Nord Stream 2, Novak said, "Rosneft has applied for this issue. We are currently waiting for the opinions of the ministries, then we will discuss the issue with the government." Gazprom, one of the world's largest natural gas producers, is the only company authorized to export natural gas through pipelines according to Russian laws.

Gazprom President Aleksey Miller also stated that they can start natural gas shipments to Europe via Nord Stream 2 this year. With the Nord Stream 2 project, whose total cost is expected to be around 10 billion euros, 55 billion cubic meters of Russian gas per year will be delivered to Germany via the Baltic Sea. or is scheduled to be shipped.

Among the partners of the project, which Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic countries oppose the construction of, are companies such as Shell, OMV, Engie, Uniper and Wintershall, as well as the project owner Gazprom. had reached an agreement that would allow it to be completed.
