Reduction in rebar production in China

Rebar production in China fell by 9.5 year-on-year in the period from January to March 2024, reaching 50.15 million tons.

The production of rebar in China fell by 9.5% year-on-year in the period from January to March this year, reaching 50.15 million tons. On the other hand, wire rod production reached 32.44 million tons, a decrease of 4.5% compared to the same period last year.

In March, the production of rebar fell by 22.5% year-on-year to 17.787 million tons. The production of wire rod also reached 11.36 million tons in this month, which corresponds to a decrease of 12% compared to the previous year.

These declines indicate fluctuations in the Chinese steel market due to factors such as changes in demand, discontinuation or reduction of industrial activities or changes in government policies to control steel production and exports.
