Record increase in construction costs

Construction cost index increased by 42.48 percent on an annual basis and by 2.89 percent on a monthly basis in June. The index saw the highest annual increase since 2015.

According to the statement made by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the construction cost index increased by 2.89 percent in June 2021 compared to the previous month and by 42.48 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Compared to the previous month, the material index increased by 4.23 percent and the labor index decreased by 0.40 percent. In addition, the material index increased by 53.70 percent and the labor index increased by 19.88 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

The construction cost index recorded the highest annual increase since 2015, when the dataset began to be published.

Building construction cost index increased by 42.49 percent annually and 2.85 percent monthly.
