Rebar prices remain stable in Poland

Rebar prices in Poland were generally stable in the week to Friday 14 July despite producers' upward efforts earlier this month.

Rebar prices remain stable in Poland

The official offer prices of the two local producers were heard at PLN 2,750-2,800 ($692-705) per tonne CPT during the evaluation week. This is approximately equivalent to 2,700-2,770 zlotys per tonne EXW and compares with 2,650 zlotys per tonne CPT in mid-June.

However, transaction prices were still reported at lower levels - around PLN 2,700-2,720 per tonne CPT (PLN 2,650-2,690 per tonne EXW).

Sources reported a slight increase in apparent steel demand in July due to limited restocking, but transaction volumes remained generally limited.

The weekly price assessment for local, rebar, ex Poland, was at 2,650-2,700 zloty per tonne on Friday, unchanged since 30 June.

In the secondary market, rebar prices were reported at 2,760-2,800 zlotys per tonne CPT this week, down from 2,750-2,760 zlotys per tonne CPT in the previous week.

Import rebar offers to Poland were also flat on a weekly basis.

Rebar offers from Hungary and Germany stood at €610-615 per tonne CPT Poland during the assessment week.

At the same time, Italian producers were targeting €610-620 CPT per tonne.

Sources said that most import suppliers were able to offer 2-3 weeks lead times to Poland as they sell from stocks.
