The official offer prices of the two local producers were heard at PLN 2,750-2,800 ($692-705) per tonne CPT during the evaluation week. This is approximately equivalent to 2,700-2,770 zlotys per tonne EXW and compares with 2,650 zlotys per tonne CPT in mid-June.
However, transaction prices were still reported at lower levels - around PLN 2,700-2,720 per tonne CPT (PLN 2,650-2,690 per tonne EXW).
Sources reported a slight increase in apparent steel demand in July due to limited restocking, but transaction volumes remained generally limited.
The weekly price assessment for local, rebar, ex Poland, was at 2,650-2,700 zloty per tonne on Friday, unchanged since 30 June.
In the secondary market, rebar prices were reported at 2,760-2,800 zlotys per tonne CPT this week, down from 2,750-2,760 zlotys per tonne CPT in the previous week.
Import rebar offers to Poland were also flat on a weekly basis.
Rebar offers from Hungary and Germany stood at €610-615 per tonne CPT Poland during the assessment week.
At the same time, Italian producers were targeting €610-620 CPT per tonne.
Sources said that most import suppliers were able to offer 2-3 weeks lead times to Poland as they sell from stocks.
