POSCO plans to construct an environmentally friendly hydrogen production facility in Oman

POSCO Holdings Inc., a steel manufacturer based in South Korea, has entered into a partnership with Hydrom, a hydrogen energy developer owned by the government of Oman. The collaboration aims to establish a green hydrogen facility in a port town in Oman.

According to the agreement, the renewable energy plant will have a capacity of 5 gigawatts and will be responsible for the production of green hydrogen at a designated area spanning 340 square kilometers. The partnership is set to last for 47 years, during which the plant will have an annual production capacity of 220,000 tons of green hydrogen.

The construction of the facility is anticipated to commence in 2027, and the first shipment of green ammonia to South Korea is expected to be arranged in the latter half of 2030.
