Polish rebar producers cut their prices

Steel rebar prices in Poland have moved down in the week until Thursday, April 6, but trading is still under pressure in the face of consistently weak end-user demand.

Polish rebar producers cut their prices

Rebar offers from producers in Poland were reported this week at 3,350 zloty (£715.45) per tonne CPT for 12 mm rebar.

However, sources reported that transaction prices are even lower at around 3,250-3,300 (£694.09-704.77) per tonne ex-works.

The weekly price assessment for ex-Polish rebar dropped from zloty 3,350 (£715.45) per tonne on March 31 to zloty 3,250-3,300 per tonne (£694.09-704.77) on Thursday, down 50-100 per tonne.

Commercial sources said that Polish producers have so far managed to receive enough orders for rolling rebar allocations for April, but if end-user demand from the construction sector does not increase, the downward trend will likely resume in the second half of April.

It has been heard that April delivery rebar offers from Italy to Poland are €715 per tonne CPT in the second half of March.

A Moldovan producer was also offering May delivery rebar to Poland at €700 per tonne CPT.
