In a statement from Norway, the World Trade Organization (WTO) jury ruled in Norway's favor against the United States in the Scandinavian country's 2018 case of lifting US import duties on steel and aluminum.
"The published report of the WTO jury concludes that the US tariff on steel and aluminum violates WTO rules," the ministry said in a statement.
In March 2018, then-US President Donald Trump signed a memorandum of understanding to implement tariffs that exempt the European Union and some other allies, while Norway, a major aluminum producer, which is a non-EU member, was among the countries that suffered from this decision.
