Norway prepares to eliminate gasoline and diesel vehicles from the market

Despite its vast oil and gas reserves, Norway is poised to make history as a global leader in sustainable transportation.

Norway prepares to eliminate gasoline and diesel vehicles from the market

Norway is setting a global example in electric vehicle (EV) sales, effectively eliminating gasoline and diesel vehicles from the automobile market.

In 2010, EV sales accounted for less than 1% of total car sales, rising to 88.9% last year. According to the latest data, by early 2024, more than 96% of new cars sold in Norway will be electric vehicles.

Christina Bu, Secretary General of the Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association (NEVA), said that they are planning a big celebration after their country succeeded in leaving the market of gasoline and diesel cars. This is considered a historic milestone in Norway's realization of its electric vehicle ambition.

Norway's achievement demonstrates not only their commitment to environmentally friendly transportation solutions, but also their determination to be at the forefront of electric vehicle adoption. This development has the potential to inspire other countries around the world to adopt sustainable transportation.
