NMDC’s iron ore production increased by 19.9% in May

The company’s production stood at 4.43 million tons in the same period last year.

However, the company’s sales performance remained weak during the same period. NMDC’s sales in May declined by 6.9% year on year to 4.04 million tons. Sales had totaled 4.34 million tons in the same month of the previous year.

On a regional basis, production recorded strong growth in the state of Chhattisgarh. Production in the region increased from 3.06 million tons to 3.99 million tons, while sales rose from 3.00 million tons to 3.34 million tons.

In contrast, a weaker performance was observed in the state of Karnataka. Production in the region declined from 1.37 million tons to 1.32 million tons, while sales fell more sharply from 1.34 million tons to 0.70 million tons.

According to cumulative data covering the April–May period, NMDC’s total production increased from 8.43 million tons to 9.96 million tons. During the same period, total sales declined from 7.94 million tons to 7.72 million tons.
