New step for sustainable steel from JSW Steel: GreenEdge

New step for sustainable steel from JSW Steel: GreenEdge

JSW Steel introduced JSW GreenEdge, its new brand developed in line with its carbon neutrality goal. With this new solution, the company aims to offer its customers flexible and verified CO₂ reduction opportunities by documenting low carbon emission steel production.

GreenEdge is designed to be fully compliant with the Worldsteel Supply Chain Tracking Guide 2024 and is based on the Book and Claim approach. Thanks to this system, JSW Steel is able to reduce its carbon emissions through real projects within its own value chain, while providing its customers with certificates documenting these reductions. All emissions data is verified by independent third-party organizations and recorded in a virtual CO₂ bank.

The new system will play a role in achieving sustainability goals, especially by contributing to companies to reduce their Scope 3 emissions. GreenEdge is also fully compliant with the GHG Protocol, ISO 22095:2020 and Worldsteel standards.

Jayant Acharya, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Steel Limited, stated;

As a responsible leader in the steel industry, JSW Steel is committed to pioneering sustainable solutions. The launch of the GreenEdge brand is a significant step in our decarbonization journey, offering our customers an opportunity to meet their sustainability targets while maintaining the highest levels of transparency and integrity.”

JSW Steel continues to shape its investments and processes in line with its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
