According to a statement on the company’s Facebook page, the regular cargo route launched in cooperation with its subsidiary UZ Cargo Poland aims to create a more efficient logistics bridge between Ukraine and Romanian ports. The new system enables direct transport of heavy cargo such as steel sheets, reducing the need for transshipment and lowering costs.
Under the new route, transportation is carried out via the Halmeu and Dyakovo border crossings, providing a more flexible and reliable operation between Romanian and Ukrainian port connections.
Ukrzaliznytsia reported that the first shipment from Constanța Port to Perechyn station was successfully completed, with cargo transported directly without unloading. The company emphasized that the route offers a significant alternative, particularly amid low freight volumes and declining sector revenues.
For transportation, 18-meter flatbed wagons are used, while a rapid bogie exchange system between the 1520 mm and 1435 mm track gauges has been implemented. This allows gauge adaptation without unloading, reducing processing time to just a few hours.
The company also announced that, as of May 1, 2026, its automated wagon repair workshop distribution service has been fully operational at full capacity.
