New deal from NLMK Group

NLMK Group and Gazprom Neft have agreed to cooperate to decrease climate impact.

New deal from NLMK Group
NLMK Group, an international metallurgical company, and Gazprom Neft, one of Russia's largest oil companies, have signed a cooperation agreement to achieve their goals of mitigating climate change.
The companies plan to develop joint projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, in particular technologies for the production, transport, storage and use of hydrogen in metallurgical production. The agreement also enables joint research and testing of technologies for capturing, using and storing CO.
Sergey Chebotarev, Vice President of Energy and Environment of the NLMK Group, said: "We are pleased to cooperate with our partner Gazprom Neft in the field of decarbonization: joint efforts to develop hydrogen energy, capture and use CO2 will accelerate the introduction of new technologies to reduce the impact on the climate."
Over the past five years, the NLMK Group has reduced CO2 emissions per tonne of pig iron and steel sales by 4% – from 1.98 tons in 2016 to 1.90 tons in 2020 – and has set a further reduction target of 1.84 tonnes (additional 3%) This target will last until 2023.
