Referring to the negotiations that took place in Stockholm last week and led to China's decision to extend the customs truce, Greer stated the talks focused particularly on basic industrial components.
Greer noted that the US had secured certain commitments regarding the security of the supply chain, but did not share the details of these commitments.
“We focused on ensuring the free flow of rare metals from China to the US and the supply chain in the region, as it was before the restrictions,” Greer stated, emphasizing that they had made significant progress toward this goal.
Rare earth elements are of critical importance in high-tech defense and electronic products, so trade relations between the US and China in this area are closely monitored from a global supply chain perspective.
