Malaysia reviews anti-dumping duties on cold rolled steel imports

Malaysia has launched an administrative review into anti-dumping duties imposed on cold-rolled steel coils imported from China, South Korea, Japan and Vietnam.

Malaysia reviews anti-dumping duties on cold rolled steel imports

The Malaysian government is evaluating whether to extend anti-dumping duties on imports of cold rolled coils of iron, or non-alloy steel with a width exceeding 1,300mm. The review specifically targets imports from China, South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam.

The Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (Miti) announced that the review was initiated at the request of local producer Mycron Steel CRC Sdn Bhd. The company raised concerns that the removal of anti-dumping duties could lead to a resurgence of dumping practices, causing harm to Malaysia’s steel industry.

Following an evaluation, the ministry decided to proceed with the review under the relevant laws and regulations. As part of the process, surveys and required documents will be distributed to relevant stakeholders.

Interested parties must request the surveys by January 8, 2025, and submit their completed forms and supporting documents by January 23, 2025. The ministry warned that failure to provide the necessary information or incomplete submissions could result in decisions being based on available data. The final decision of the review will be announced within 180 days from the initiation date.
