Malaysia continues AD investigations into Chinese imports

The Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (Miti) in Malaysia is currently examining four anti-dumping cases related to imports of iron, steel, and plastic products from China. These investigations reflect Malaysia's ongoing efforts to protect its domestic industries from the effects of unfair trade practices, especially from key trading partners.

Between 2015 and 2023, the government implemented nine anti-dumping measures on various imported products from China. These duties, aimed at counteracting the pricing disparities, are designed to ensure that imported goods are not sold in Malaysia at lower prices than in their home markets, preventing harm to local manufacturers.

Miti explained that anti-dumping duties are a crucial part of the country’s trade remedies to maintain fair competition. This approach aligns with international guidelines under World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements, underscoring Malaysia’s commitment to regulated trade practices.
