Kosovo Türkiye trade volume approaches USD 1 billion

Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat stated in his speech that the trade volume between Kosovo and Türkiye has reached approximately USD 1 billion, emphasizing that the free trade agreement between the two countries is being effectively implemented. He noted that Kosovo has a strong competitive advantage in the services sector and that efforts are underway to further develop economic relations in this area.

Bolat also stated that the Economic and Trade Joint Committee (JETCO) meeting, under an agreement signed two years ago, is planned to be held by the end of this year. He added that the expansion of the free trade agreement to include the services sector will also be discussed at this meeting.

Highlighting Turkish investments in Kosovo in areas such as financial services, banking, energy distribution, airport operations, and small and medium-sized manufacturing, Bolat said Türkiye will continue to contribute to Kosovo’s investment environment.

He also noted that Türkiye is ready to share its experience in organized industrial zones and technoparks, adding that cooperation will be carried out between the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology and Kosovo authorities in this field.

Bolat stated that the Turkish contracting sector has completed projects worth around USD 560 billion over the past 50 years, adding that Turkish companies are active in Kosovo in road, tunnel, bridge, and infrastructure projects. He also mentioned that Kosovo will host the 2030 Mediterranean Games, with new infrastructure investments planned in this context.

Referring to the European Union’s Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, Bolat said many projects will be implemented in the region and Turkish firms are ready to contribute.

He emphasized that political and diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Kosovo are at an excellent level, recalling that Türkiye was among the first countries to recognize Kosovo’s independence in 2008 and continues to support its international recognition and regional stability.
