Kocaer Çelik realised its investments in renewable energy

The company, which aims to protect the environment, gain energy independence and increase its competitiveness in the international arena by making its investments on renewable energy resources, made the following statement to KAP

"The transfer of the Geothermal Resources and Natural Mineral Water J-443 licence of Aydem Yenilenebilir Enerji A.Ş., which we announced with our material event disclosure dated 11.05.2023, located in Aydın province, Kuyucak District, Horsunlu-Ortakçı Village, has been transferred to our company. As we have previously communicated, one of the important parts of our corporate strategy is to meet all of our energy self-consumption from renewable energy sources that we produce ourselves, thus gaining energy independence and gaining an advantage in international competition, as well as contributing to the future of society in environmental, social and governance issues. In order to strengthen our position as a pioneer in green production in the iron and steel industry, we aim to diversify our clean energy production sources with geothermal energy production, following our rooftop solar power plants (SPP). We aim to increase our electricity production, which is 15 million kWh per year with our existing SPPs, to a total of 60 million kWh with an estimated 45 million kWh production to be added after the completion of our Horsunlu Geo Thermal power plant first phase investments and to reach a level to provide all of our consumption from our own power plants. Following the additional investments to be made in addition to the two production wells in the Horsunlu Geothermal Resources and Natural Mineral Water licence area, we aim to significantly increase our electricity generation capacity and reach a strong portfolio diversified in terms of renewable resources in the energy sector, which we have chosen as a strategic growth area."
