In June 2024 Kazakh mining companies extracted 4.957 million tonnes of iron ore, which is 23.3% more than in the same period of 2023 and 0.7% higher than in May.
In total, Kazakhstan companies extracted about 28 million tonnes of iron ore in the first half of 2024, 22% more than in 2023.
Production of iron ore pellets also increased. In June 2024, 532,700 tonnes of pellets were produced, up 63% year-on-year to 326,800 tonnes. But the May 2024 figure of 542.1 thousand tonnes was not exceeded.
At the same time, the output of iron ore concentrates declined. In June 2024, 597.8 thousand tonnes of concentrates were produced, down 25.2% from June 2023 and down 15.8% from May this year.
