According to Worldsteel, the volume of steel production in Kazakhstan is estimated at 3.9 million tons in 2023, 5.5% less than a year earlier. The country took 37th place in the world ranking of leading manufacturers, and third in the CIS.
Also, at the end of 2023, in Kazakhstan, according to the Ministry of Industry and Construction, 2.074 million tons of ferroalloys, 2.400 million tons of rolled sheets, 896 thousand tons of rebars, 305 thousand tons of steel pipes were produced.
In addition, last year a plant for the production of rebars with a capacity of 300 thousand tons per year was launched in Taraz, which will contribute to reducing the volume of rebars imported into the country. This year it is planned to launch two large new enterprises for the production of ferrosilicon. Their total production capacity is 330 thousand tons per year.
