KAM Holding launches investment in a 200,000 ton DRI plant

KAM Holding, one of Nigeria’s largest indigenous steel producers, has launched a new DRI plant investment as part of its growth strategy in the steel sector. The company operates in steel production, mining, and logistics, with a strong focus on supporting domestic industrial development.

According to company officials, the new facility will have an annual DRI production capacity of 200,000 tons. The project will also include the construction of a 25 MW power plant. The total investment value is estimated at around USD 30 million.

KAM Holding currently operates an electric arc furnace (EAF) and an integrated steel production facility where DRI is melted and used in the production of reinforcing bars. All DRI produced at the new plant is planned to be consumed internally within the company’s steelmaking operations, with no export plans currently under consideration.

The investment is expected to strengthen KAM Holding’s raw material self-sufficiency while also contributing to the expansion of Nigeria’s domestic steel production capacity.
