Danieli will supply the new, digitally controlled electric arc furnace (EAF) and secondary refining stations to be installed at JFE Steel West Japan Works in Kurashiki, which is scheduled to be operational in the first quarter of 2028.
The new Digimeltshop, one of the largest capacity electric arc furnaces in the world, will include the Digimelter®, Zerobucket EAF and Digirefiner with Q-One advanced power supply system for the production of high-quality molten steel. The primary fume extraction line will provide effective dedusting for the electric furnace.
The Q-One power feeder minimizes negative impacts on the grid by reducing power and electrode consumption, while its redundant architecture increases operational flexibility and efficiency. With precise control of current, voltage and frequency, it offers competitive advantages in performance, sustainability and operating costs.
In addition, technology packages such as Q-Stap, Q-Strop, Q-EBT Sand, Q-Slag and Thor 3K (automatic self-cleaning slag door) will reduce power outage times and improve safety around the EAF area.
This investment is an important step in JFE Steel's green transformation goals.
