According to data from the Italian Steel Producers Federation Federacciai, steel output across the country’s mills reached 1.7 million tons (Mt) in July, marking a 2.2% increase compared to the same month last year. Total production since the beginning of the year reached 12.8 Mt, up 2.8% compared to the same period in 2024.
In hot-rolled steel production, a mixed picture emerged across product groups. Long products saw a strong annual increase of 11.9%, reaching 1.1 Mt, while flat products continued their declining trend, with production at 732 thousand tons, 1.2% below last year.
Looking at the first seven months of the year, total production of long products rose 2% to 7.6 Mt. Flat products benefited from a recovery in the first half of the year, growing 6.7% to reach 5.6 Mt.
