Italian rebar mills are considering the new price hikes and are increasing their value to €500/tonne ($546) ex-works. However, some still want €450-470/ton. Buyers state the values paid as €440-450/t base ex-works.
Domestic prices, on the other hand, are around €700-720/ton ex-factory, increasing by around €20/ton compared to the last week of March.
Some buyers are considering buying imported materials at a cheaper price due to high local rebar prices. Italian contractors expect construction investments to decrease by almost 6% in 2023, after a 12% increase in 2022.
