Japan's largest steelmaker Nippon Steel Corp. aims to adopt a new model for semi-annual price negotiations of futures contracts with local industry customers from next April, and is in talks with them, a senior company official told foreign sources.
Deputy General Manager Takahiro Mori added that he wants to maintain a good relationship with Toyota Motor Corp, one of the steelmaker's most important customers.
In October, Nippon Steel filed patent infringement lawsuits against Toyota and China's Baoshan Iron & Steel Co Ltd (Baosteel) 600019.SS in Tokyo district court.
