According to the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), in the first seven months of this year according to the local calendar (March 21 - October 22), national metallurgical companies sent 5.912 million tons of steel and semi-finished products abroad. It was expressed as 30% more than the same period of the previous year.
At the same time, steel production in the country decreased. According to Worldsteel, the results for the first nine months of this year decreased by 8.6% compared to January-September 2020 to 19.3 million tons.
Almost 70% of Iranian steel exports fell into semi-finished products, which were delivered abroad at around 4.06 million tons in seven months, 27% more than in the previous year.
Compared to March-September 2020, long product exports increased by 44% to reach 1.486 million tons. In addition, Iranian companies increased their flat product supply by 18% to 369 thousand tons, compared to 184 thousand tons a year ago, and sent approximately 700 thousand tons of spongy (reduced) iron to foreign customers.
