Interpipe Steel temporarily suspended steel smelting operations as of March 16, 2023 due to scrap metal shortages. Valentin Makarenko, chairman of the company's board of directors, said he expects the scrap supply shortage to improve in March and the plant to be reactivated. The company's exports for January-February 2023 amounted to 24.8 thousand tons, an increase compared to the previous year.
Valentin Makarenko reported that the process of closing the steel plant will take 7-8 days and that they have made planned layoffs in October, during which time they will maintain their main units.
