Indonesian Dexin Steel to launch third blast furnace

Dexin Steel will launch its third blast furnace in September 2023. The facility is located in the Morowali Industrial Park on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. It is owned by Dexin Steel, which is part of the Chinese Delong Group.

Indonesian Dexin Steel to launch third blast furnace

In July, Dexin Steel commissioned two blast furnaces. The production capacity of each of them is 2 million tons per year.

The third furnace was expected to start operating in August 2023, but Dexin Steel has delayed the start of the unit for undisclosed reasons. In addition, the company announced that the total capacity of the enterprise after the launch of the third furnace will reach 7 million tons, although 6 million tons were originally announced.

The company also changed plans for the volume of output. Earlier, Dexin Steel announced that it would supply up to 1 million tons of long products, 1 million tons of wire rod, 1.8 million tons of slabs and 2.2 million tons of billets each year. Now the company expects to produce up to 1 million tons of long products, 500 thousand tons of wire rod, 2.2 million tons of slabs and 3.3 million tons of billets per year.
