This launch marks the first domestic production of a premium zinc-aluminium-magnesium coated steel (ZAM) brand developed specifically for India’s automotive sector.
India has commissioned its first production facility for high-quality coated automotive steel. The product technology, patented by ArcelorMittal and previously available only in European production lines, fills a critical gap in the South Asian automotive supply chain.
Due to the lack of advanced rolling infrastructure in the country, approximately 8 to 10% of high-strength steel grades used in the automotive industry are imported.
