According to the Joint Plant Committee (JPC), a subdivision of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry of India, in July this year, national exports of finished steel products (excluding semi-finished products) reached 1.512 million tons, up 10%. Compared to July 2020 of last year and increased by 11%.
In total, in the first four months of the current financial year (April/March), Indian metallurgical companies sent about 5.07 million tons of steel products abroad. In the same period of 2020, Indian steel exports reached 7.8 million tons, but about 3 million tons of this volume fell to semi-finished products, the share of which has decreased significantly this year.
Metallurgical companies are increasing their steel exports again due to the decline in domestic demand due to the second coronavirus wave and the decline in business activity during the rainy season. Most of the external consumables were declared as sheet metal.
