The Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA), which represents India's stainless steel industry, has asked the government to restore the countervailing duty (CVD) measure on stainless steel imports from China and Indonesia.
In its upcoming Union Budget, ISSDA made this call and stated that it is seeking a fair playing field for Indian manufacturers, especially SMEs.
The association said that stainless steel imports from China and Indonesia increased by a massive 172% in the first half of the 2022 fiscal year. Indonesia overtakes India to become the world's second largest producer of stainless steel.
