In 2023, Türkiye’s exports increased and imports decreased

In 2023, the foreign trade deficit decreased by 3.2 percent compared to the previous year, from 109 billion 541 million dollars to 105 billion 997 million dollars. According to TÜİK data, exports increased, and imports decreased.

In 2023, Türkiye’s exports increased and imports decreased

Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced foreign trade statistics for 2023. Accordingly, exports increased by 0.6% compared to the previous year and reached 255 billion 777 million dollars.

In 2023, imports decreased by 0.5% compared to the previous year and amounted to 361 billion 774 million dollars. Thus, the foreign trade deficit in 2023 decreased by 3.2% from 109 billion 541 million dollars to 105 billion 997 million dollars.

Germany ranks first in exports with 21 billion dollars 

In 2023, Germany ranked first in exports. While exports to Germany were 21 billion 92 million dollars, it was followed by the US with 14 billion 826 million dollars, Iraq with 12 billion 786 million dollars, the UK with 12 billion 468 million dollars, and Italy with 12 billion 381 million dollars. Exports to the first 5 countries accounted for 28.8% of total exports.

Russia took the first place in imports last year. While the imports from the Russian Federation were 45 billion 602 million dollars, it was followed by China with 44 billion 980 million dollars, Germany with 28 billion 684 million dollars, Switzerland with 19 billion 902 million dollars, and the US with 15 billion 778 million dollars. Imports from the first 5 countries accounted for 42.8% of total imports.
