Hyundai Steel has taken an important global step by obtaining quality system certification for nuclear material supply in the US.

Hyundai Steel achieves a first in nuclear steel supply

Hyundai Steel announced on April 16 that it has received ASME QSC (Quality System Certification for Nuclear Materials Organizations) certification from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), meeting international quality standards for nuclear materials production. Hyundai Steel became the first South Korean company to receive ASME QSC certification for nuclear steel supply.

ASME QSC certification is an international standard that audits the quality assurance systems of materials and components used in nuclear power plants and related industries. Hyundai Steel has proven that its ribbed rebar, structural steel and sheet products meet the quality requirements of the global nuclear industry.

Hyundai Steel expects this development to boost confidence in steel used for the construction and maintenance of nuclear power plants. Since 2006, the company has been involved in major projects such as Shin-Kori and Shin-Wolsung, while gaining experience overseas with the Barakah Nuclear Power Project.

With this certification, Hyundai Steel aims to increase its effectiveness in both local and international tenders for nuclear energy projects.
