Hyundai chooses Ghana for a manufacturing plant targeting the West African market

South Korean automaker Hyundai is preparing to establish a new vehicle manufacturing facility in Ghana as part of its plans to expand its production footprint in West Africa. According to a statement by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the project is among a number of key initiatives expected to contribute to the country’s industrialization goals.

The plant, which is expected to serve the West African market, is anticipated to increase local vehicle production capacity while creating new employment opportunities and attracting additional investment to the country.

The investment also signals deepening economic cooperation between South Korea and Ghana, with both sides aiming to strengthen collaboration in industrialization, technology transfer and value-added manufacturing.

The Hyundai manufacturing project is being viewed as an important step in supporting Ghana’s ambition to position itself as a regional manufacturing hub.
