Hot rolled coil imports slowed down in Vietnam

The strong rise in Vietnam's hot rolled coil import market from China has slowed down following the downward price correction on the Shanghai Futures Exchange at the end of last week.

Hot rolled coil imports slowed down in Vietnam

A package of SAE 1006 hot rolled coils from China was booked in southern Vietnam on Thursday at $613/t cfr. In the statement made on Friday, it was stated that the market dropped approximately $5/ton due to the decline in futures.

It was stated that compared to the previous week, offers decreased to $10/ton. It was also added that China's SAE 1006 hot coil offers are at the level of $605-610/ton cfr Vietnam.

“Offers are about $5/t lower today,” said a trader in Ho Chi Minh City. China's Q235 hot rolled coil offers with 3-12 mm thickness are at approximately $575-577/ton cfr, while Q195 hot rolled coil offers with 3 mm base thickness are at $567-569/ton cfr. These offers are mostly for February/March shipments.

SAE quality 2-2.7 mm thick HRC was valued at $605/ton cfr Vietnam, unchanged on a weekly basis.

India's SAE 1006 HRC offerings are making a prominent appearance again in Vietnam. For February shipment, an offer of 30,000 tons of SAE 1006 HRC with a maximum thickness of 30% 2 mm was offered at $635/ton cfr. A trader in the region stated that traders were offering Indian HRC at $630/t cfr Vietnam without the support of mills.
