Hoa Phat Dung Quat has maintained stable domestic prices for hot rolled coil (HRC) despite a sluggish Vietnamese market. The mill priced SS400 grade HRC at USD 534 per ton (CFR South Vietnam) excluding VAT for January/February shipments. This represents a decrease of USD 14 per ton from the previous month's official list price of USD 548 per ton. Last month, however, effective selling prices were in the range of USD 530-535 per ton, with discounts for bulk orders of 10,000 tons or more.
In Vietnamese dong, the new price represents a slight rise of VND 60 per kilogram (USD 2 per ton) compared to last month's VND 13,590 per kilogram (USD 533 per ton). Prices for the northern and central regions are currently at VND 13,560 per kilogram (USD532 per ton).
Chinese SAE 1006 HRC SAE 1006 HRC was offered to Vietnam for November shipment at USD 530 per ton CFR Vietnam, but market sources said that these offers were not competitive. South Korean 2-3mm base SAE 1006 HRC is also on offer from Vietnam at USD 530-535 per ton CFR Vietnam. Prices for 2-2.7 mm SAE HRC are assessed at USD 525 per ton CFR Vietnam, up USD 2.5 from last week.
