Organized under the auspices of the Malian Presidency and the Ministry of Civil Security by Turkish company Prontaron Defense Industry Organization and Foreign Trade Ltd. (The Peak Defense), the event will take place at the Bamako Exhibition and Show Center (FEBAK). The first edition will be exclusive to Turkish participants.
BAMEX Chairman Harun Saraç told Anadolu Agency that delegations from more than 35 countries, mostly from Africa, are expected to attend. He explained that the idea for the fair emerged after a demo event held in Bamako last year with several Turkish defense firms, which received strong interest, prompting Malian authorities to request turning it into a larger exhibition.
Products to be tested in the field
The event will last four days, with the first two dedicated to the fair and the final two as “Demo Day.” Participating companies will have the chance to showcase and test their products in a secured military area near Bamako, in front of official delegations.
Saraç confirmed that leading Turkish defense companies including Baykar, ASELSAN, Roketsan, and MKE will participate, adding:
“BAMEX aims to provide African countries with the opportunity to directly review modern solutions for their security needs, while also fostering cooperation in investment, technology transfer, and joint production.”
He noted that next year the fair will open its doors not only to Turkish defense companies but also to international defense industry players.
“Many defense exhibitions have been held in Africa, but most were either civilian-focused or failed to attract high-level decision-makers. BAMEX will host presidents, defense ministers, and top delegations, offering not just product displays but live field demonstrations. In this sense, BAMEX is not just another exhibition but the beginning of a new era for defense in Africa.”
“Türkiye: not just a supplier, but a trusted strategic partner”
Saraç underlined Mali’s critical importance for security in the Sahel region, describing it as a key market for Turkish defense products. Existing defense cooperation already includes Turkish systems, integration solutions, and training projects that have contributed to strengthening Mali’s security capacity.
He stressed that the expo will also respond to African countries’ search for reliable and long-term partnerships:
“Events like BAMEX have the potential to elevate cooperation further through technology transfer, joint production, and strategic agreements. Today, African nations seek not only products but trust and sustainable partnerships. Türkiye is positioning itself as not just a supplier, but a reliable strategic partner.”
Saraç concluded that BAMEX reinforces Türkiye’s image in Africa as a trusted, innovative, and strategic partner, bringing long-term advantages not only in defense but also in diplomatic and economic relations.
