Green steel production symposium held at Kish International Steel Exhibition

The recent symposium organized by the Iranian Iron and Steel Association commenced with a performance report presented by Professor Najafi Zadeh, the Chairman of the Board. This set the stage for a series of insightful discussions on the future of green steel production.

Engineer Behrooz Mohammadi from Esfahan University took the podium to discuss the environmental benefits of green steel. He emphasized that modern technologies enabling steel production without fossil fuels significantly reduce environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Mohammadi highlighted that green steel not only cuts production costs and energy consumption but also plays a vital role in waste management, thereby protecting both the environment and human health.

Following this, Engineer Kouhi, CEO of Esfahan Steel Company, delivered a compelling speech on the integration of artificial intelligence in the steel industry. He pointed out that AI is crucial in the context of the fourth and fifth industrial revolutions, helping to reduce production costs and enhance efficiency. Kouhi stressed the importance of uniting the steel industry and accelerating project implementation through collaboration with scientific bodies and streamlining related processes.

The symposium’s speakers underscored the necessity of cooperation with knowledge-based companies and R&D units to advance steel waste recycling. They agreed that transitioning to green steel production is essential and requires collective effort from all industry sectors. The adoption of modern recycling technologies was highlighted as a key strategy for reducing pollutants and optimizing energy use.

The event concluded with a dynamic question-and-answer session, where participants engaged with members of the Iranian Iron and Steel Association. The discussions focused on achieving green steel, reducing carbon footprints, and minimizing greenhouse gases in steel production.
