According to SteelRadar's data from the World Stainless Association, global stainless steel smelter production increased by 7% compared to 2023, reaching 62.6 million metric tons.
China, the largest producer, produced 39.4 million metric tons, an increase of 7.5% y/y. Production in Europe increased marginally by 1.5%, while the US increased by 6.9%. Asia (excluding China and South Korea) was notable with a 6.4% increase, while other regions were increased by 9.2%.
Despite the regional growth, China alone accounted for around 63% of global production.
