The country’s crude steel production totaled 3.2 million tons in April. This figure indicated a 9.5% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. In the January-April period, total production also increased by 9.1% year on year.
Examining the production segments, oxygen based steel production recorded a 10.7% increase in April. Electric arc furnace steel production reached 1.013 million tons, marking a 7.1% year on year increase.
The data revealed that the recovery trend in Germany’s steel sector continued, while also indicating that production levels remained below the overall average. Total production stayed at 37.5 million tons, and the sector remained below the 40 million ton capacity threshold considered critical for the industry.
